Charles F. Haanel and Lord Tennyson and “The Higher Pantheism”

In the Exercise for Week Twenty-two of The Master Key System, Charles F. Haanel wrote

28. For your exercise this week concentrate on Tennyson’s beautiful lines.

29. “Speak to Him, thou, for He hears, and spirit with spirit can meet, Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.”

30. Then try to realize that when you do “Speak to Him” you are in touch with Omnipotence.

That line is from Alfred, Lord Tennyson‘s poem “The Higher Pantheism.”

Here is the poem in its entirety.

The sun, the moon, the stars, the seas, the hills and the plains,-
Are not these, O Soul, the Vision of Him who reigns?
Is not the Vision He, tho’ He be not that which He seems?
Dreams are true while they last, and do we not live in dreams?
Earth, these solid stars, this weight of body and limb,
Are they not sign and symbol of thy division from Him?
Dark is the world to thee; thyself art the reason why,
For is He not all but thou, that hast power to feel “I am I”?
Glory about thee, without thee; and thou fulfillest thy doom,
Making Him broken gleams and a stifled splendour and gloom.
Speak to Him, thou, for He hears, and Spirit with Spirit can meet-
Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.
God is law, say the wise; O soul, and let us rejoice,
For if He thunder by law the thunder is yet His voice.
Law is God, say some; no God at all, says the fool,
For all we have power to see is a straight staff bent in a pool;
And the ear of man cannot hear, and the eye of man cannot see;
But if we could see and hear, this Vision-were it not He?

Mr. Haanel explains why this line from this poem is so important in point #31.

31. This realization and recognition of this Omnipresent power will quickly destroy any and every form of sickness or suffering and substitute harmony and perfection.

In other words, recognize and realize that you are a part of the Omnipresent Power and you will heal yourself  of every malady that affects you — body, mind, and soul.

Will it, though?

Is it possible to heal thyself?

Can you?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that believing in and recognizing the Omnipresent Power will …

… raise your spirits …

… and it will make you feel better …

… and sometimes that’s the start to healing.

This topic of healing with thoughts and beliefs is a tricky one. There is a lot to be discussed about it. There’s a lot to be said for both the pros and the cons.

If anything, look at both sides with an open and inquisitive mind.

Do your best to separate fact from fiction …

… proper thinking from wishful thinking.

There are a lot of great and wonderful things in this world.

As well as a few things that aren’t so rosy.

But it always pays to be optimistic.

Because even if that doesn’t heal you, it will at least make you feel better.

Stay healthy.

Stay awesome.

You won’t believe what you see here because it is beyond belief!
